Gonda: Demonstrating swift administrative action and a humanitarian approach, the Gonda district administration provided financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the family of a man who lost his life in a crocodile attack in Sanauli Mohammadpur village under Tarabganj tehsil. The compensation was sanctioned and delivered within 24 hours of the incident on the directions of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan.
The financial assistance was released under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and handed over to the deceased’s wife, Kiran, in the form of a cheque.
Tarabganj MLA Prem Narayan Pandey and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Pradeep Kumar Singh personally visited the bereaved family’s residence to offer condolences and present the ₹5 lakh cheque. They assured the family that the state government and district administration stand firmly with them during this difficult period and would extend all possible support.
According to officials, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan directed the concerned departments to complete all necessary formalities immediately after receiving information about the incident. Acting on her instructions, the administration prioritized the required procedures and ensured that the financial assistance was approved and disbursed to the victim’s family within a day.
The district administration also appealed to residents living near rivers, ponds, and other water bodies to remain vigilant. People have been advised to immediately inform the Forest Department or local administration if crocodiles or other wild animals are spotted in the area. Officials further urged citizens to avoid venturing unnecessarily near water bodies and to strictly follow safety guidelines to prevent such incidents.
The administration reiterated that providing prompt relief to families affected by natural disasters and wildlife attacks remains one of its highest priorities, and that assistance will continue to be extended in accordance with government norms to ensure timely support for affected families.
